Camelid Genetics Seminars

Dr. Andrew Merriwether offers a range of genetic seminar choices. He can do one on the
basics of genetics and basic camelid genetics but can also cover a range of topics including
color genetics, inheritence patterns of inherited diseases of camelids, pedigree analysis,
domestication of camelids, the origins of the North American herd, and more.

Additional Details

Dr. Andrew Merriwether has a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the University of Pittsburgh,
an M.S. in Genetics from Pennsylvania State University, a B.A. in Medical Anthropology and
a B.S. in Biology from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Merriwether was a post-doctoral
fellow at the Keck Center for Advanced Training in Computational Biology at the
Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and the University of Pittsburgh 1993-1996.Dr.
Merriwether was a faculty member at the University of Michigan holding the positions of :
Assistant Professor of Anthropology, Assistant Professor of Biology, Assistant Professor of
Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from 1996-
2003. Dr. Merriwether was also a faculty member of the Statistical Genetics Department at
the University of Michigan and of the Center for Molecular and Clinical Epidemiology of
Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Merriwether is currently an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Binghamton
University
