This girl will truly surprise you! Her Dam is Accoyo Dallas - a top Accoyo Import hand picked by Dr. Jim Vickers.
Nel told me when I bought Dallas that every one of Dallas' offspring have achieved Color Champion. I was thrilled to hear that -- but in the past she was bred to big named proven boys and they were white. This time -- she was bred to Peruvian Laredo, a True Black. Don't get me wrong, Laredo is one of Nel Vicker's top herd sires and is a great boy who took Color Champion at both AOBA and Futurity - but I wasn't expecting this light little girl to develop into a show girl let alone follow in her siblings paths of Championship!
Twilight kept astonishing me as time went on and this fall (2006) she entered her first show. She placed 1st in the Beige Class and went on to take Reserve Color Champion out of all Beige and WHITES (remember - she has a BLACK Sire)!
She will join our breeding program in the spring and the fact that she covers Black is just
Shangri Las family tree is very strong and he is producing Gray and Black show winning offspring!
Shangri La is a cross between the Caligula and Shere Khan lines of Accoyo. These two lines represent the top of the Plantel herd at Estancia Accoyo and
Shangri Las father is the late West Coast Legend Accoyo Caligula, (All American Alpaca Futurity Herd sire of the Year & National AOBA Get a Sire Winner) and his mother is Accoyo Sunipani (2 time National AOBA Fleece Show Winner & National Judges Choice Award). This combination produced Shangri Las full older brother Accoyo El Nino as well. El Nino is Pacific Crest/Accoyo Americas chosen predecessor to Caligula. El Nino's breeding fees was $10,000 until recently when Greg Mecklem completely closed his farm to outside breedings. At the 2006 National AOBA Show, a donated El Nino breeding was Auctioned off for an unheard of price of $15,000.
The apple hasn'tt fallen far here folks.
BENCHMARK Trecoyo Sunbeam by Shang (Accoyo Shangri La)
Sunbeam is a combination of top Accoyo Genetics and offers color in her background. Although she has a Champion TB Grand Sire, Sunbeam went on to hold her own in very large and competitive white classes.
Our goal for her in our breeding program was to push her elite fleece on to her offspring while pulling that color from her background. So, for her first breeding, we matched her up with Crimpson. That match added even more top Accoyos and brought more color to the equation.
Their cria, Benchmark's Coyo Fuego, is everything we hoped for and then some. His coverage, fineness, density, crimp -- oh, did I mention coverage - is just amazing! He really is a true example of a Benchmark Alpaca. You can Fuego on his own page.
Sunbeam is currently open and you may choose from Benchmark's Herd Sire Row for her next perect match.
