Peruvian Grand Cherokee
White, 184197, Peruvian
Unlike other white herd sires of his age, his fleece is luminous and dense and at 6 years of age is still super soft and crimpy! Cherokees offspring are being born with fine fiber and a fantastic Accoyo headset. His offspring are selling and we currently have bookings for stud services. This Grand Stud is quite an alpaca and a value!
Micron Count 2003: Her May 2003 micron analysis is 21.2; 4.3; 20.3; 2.1.
Shearing Weight 2003: 7 total 2007: 4.6 prime; 2008 6.8 total, 4.1 prime
Lluvia reigns over our pastures like a queen, and with Royal Fawn and Grand Master as her grandsires, she very well may be. She is 50% Accoyo and 25% Alianza, exhibiting, and throwing, Accoyo typieness and Alianza quality fiber. For decades, the farms of the Rural Alianza Co-op have selectively bred alpacas for their vigor and ability to retain their dense, fine fleeces into full maturity and beyond, and Lluvia is no exception -- at eight years of age, Lluvia has a very dense nicely crimped fiber, which, for a breeding female of her age, is also remarkably soft (histograms to come). She took a ribbon in a very large, competitive class at the North American Alpaca Show in April 2002. She is solid and conformationally correct, has a proud carriage and an easygoing personality. The females of her line are very hardy, preferring to stay out in all weather, and are good moms. Her cria are large, typie, crimpy, soft and dense. Spruce Ridge Arlington, her ribbon winning 2005 cria sired by Riddick, has lots of facial coverage, a micron of 22 at age 2 and has just settled his first females (see him at http://spruceridgefarm.com/sales_list.htm).
Her 2008 cria, Dreamwood Peruvian Fire Marshal, is white boy with super soft, high amplitude crimp, great coverage, bundling and consistency, and his father's friendly personality. He was sired by Peruvian Lancaster, a medium fawn 6x champion full Peruvian herdsire with dozens of ribboned cria. We liked the breeding so much we repeated it for Fall 2009.
