Matador is wholly owned by Becky Roof and Oliver Brown. He is offered here exclusively via The Secret Meadow program of Close-Knit Alpacas, and may be purchased individually, or as part of a super Collection of quality alpacas ideally suited for your breeding program.
Matador is a strikingly handsome, rich, dark brown huacaya male with sound form, correct conformation and an upright, herdsire presence about him (see images).
Matador comes from both Bolivian & Chilean bloodlines. His sire, MMR THE VICAR (TB with WH) is a son of CASANOVA II (#43), a medium fawn stud (with WH). His dam is Harmony Ranch's SONADOR (also on this sales list, so please take a look at her listing for more details about her and her Bolivian heritage). Matador's maternal great grandsire, ACERO MARKA'S STRAIGHT ARROW, is a full Bolivian import who has apparently passed down to Matador his intense dark brown coloration, as all others on Matador's dam's pedigree are white.
Matador has a very nice temperament, which is important for any quality male in a herd - especially if he is a breeder. "He gets along well with other males," says Becky, "does not like to fight & pals around with the other males born when he was born. There are four of them that are best friends. They stick together like glue. Matador is the leader of the four, but not the leader of the pasture."
I asked Oliver & Becky what they can share about Matador's breeding potential & qualities. Their reply was, "He's a possible herd sire. He has very nice color and is a little stately in his demeanor. We think he would be nice but persistent with the ladies."
"Matador is," says Becky "an easy animal to work with once haltered." This, of course, is good to know. Better yet, "His fleece is beautiful. It has great handle & great consistency." Ideal, especially in such a dark color!
Matador has an excellent dental bite & gorgeous head. In a word, Becky says he's "COOL." For Price & more: www.The-Secret-Meadow.com
