Shimmer is the result of crossing 5Peruvian Francesca x Peruvian Silver Marquis. This cross has locked a great deal of color into her genetics and she has proven that she will pass that on. Shimmer has the most brilliant luster I have seen on a gray - or on most Suri alpacas. She is silky fine, has long staples and independent locks.

Her first cria by Sundance Kid is a beautiful Maroon named Bolt and her second by Bo Jangles is a True Black Female named J.J..

Shimmer was bred on September 20, 2009 to The Sundance Kid which will bring in both the Accoyo and Condor lines. Our Sundance kids have really been impressive and the crossing and bringing Silver Marquis lines back to Condor has been a successful cross in the industry.

She is a easy birther and attentive Dam, however her milk supply has been low for her first two cria. Because of that, her price has been reduced.

Her cria have good vigor and neither needed a plasma transfer, but during their first 30 days or so, they only maintain weight - not gain - unless given additional support.

Shimmer's 2009 cria, J.J., was born on 9/2/09 and up until 9/16/09, we were giving an additional 4 feedings per day of about 3 oz per feeding. Because she was also getting milk from Shimmer, by about 9/30/09, she would refuse the daytime bottles and only take a bottle in the morning and before bed. By 10/15/09, she refused all bottles and continued to gain slowly.

Even with the slow starts in weight gain, Shimmer's 2008 cria caught up to his peers by time he was one year old.
