Artero is part of the StudMaster program. A Hemingway grandson that is a magnificent example of Hemingway's genetic potency a full generation removed. Artero is a male of regal presence and stature. His fleece statistics reflect the silky soft handle. The fleece has beautiful independent staple structure with deep, bold crimp and a brightness that is one of the ear marks of Hemingway progeny. Equally as important, Artero's mother, Peruvian Affair, has been a consistent producer of high quality cria.
Out of the selective white Maple Brook program, Ortega took luster and density to a new level in our herd. She looked better and better every day as a bred maiden... and she just cranked out this lustrous crimpy fleece. And pounds of it!! Ortega sheared >/= 10 lbs of blanket and seconds. And just look at that CV!
After having her cria, Ortega was not quite as fine as our other younger white, maiden female, Butterfly, yet when her fiber was spun up, it felt softer to the touch. This is a function of her consistency and low CV.
This past year, Ortega upped the ante. She gave birth to a beautiful FAWN female cria, and we will be breeding her to color from now on.
If you have a white, or mixed breeding program, take a look at Ortega. She's big boned, with a large frame, and ample capacity. Her staple length is exceptiional as is the bright, soft fleece that she produces in abundance. Her cria grow big and strong and all carry the same proud stance.
Ortega is being rebred this spring to AOE Vaquero's Aspenn, for a repeat performance on Pearl in 2010. This cria is already spoken for, but let her next cria be yours.
