A rare and special gift from the Inca Highlands, Black Hawk displays all the classic alpaca traits in a handsome, silky black package! Solid bone, excellent conformation and a superfine, high sheened, densely uniform fleece with luxurious handle have earned this macho two consecutive color championships at the Estes Park Wool Market, a First Place ribbon for fleece and a First Place halter ribbon at the '01 AOBA National show in Portland, OR. Black Hawk began his breeding career in May of '01. His first crias are consistently strong in every aspect of the alpaca 'quality spectrum'! We are very excited about his ability to pass not only his strong black genetics, but also the depth of the balanced package that so characterizes his own unique presence! Of the three crias that have been shown thus far, one was Color Champion at the Great Western Alpaca Show in Denver, CO (topping this year's AOBA Color Champion); another won First Place Juvenile Females at AOBA; and the third ear
Callista is an exceptional girl who has it all – pedigree, excellent conformation, dense crimpy fleece, and a delightful personality. She is ¾ Peruvian, with strong color genetics from her true black Chilean grandmother. Her mother was a beautiful dark brown Kilimanjaro daughter (Caligula granddaughter), and her father is the well known multiple ribbon winning CPeruvian Black Hawk. Callista inherited their best traits! She has won multiple ribbons, and has given us 4 exceptional cria – the first 3 have all received at least one blue ribbon. Callista has always gotten pregnant with one breeding, delivers her cria easily, has an amazing amount of milk, and is a wonderful mother – the perfect female for new breeders. If all that isn’t enough, she has great presence and a playful personality – a truly exceptional package.
When we saw Crescent Moon’s Kryptonite at the Nationals in 2003 we thought that combining his genetics with Callista’s Black Hawk genetics should produce an amazing cria. In 2008 we bred her to FRA Rosario Del Sol, a Kryptonite son who also has Danko and Rayo Del Sol genetics from his dam. The results are in – on September 19, 2009 she delivered a black male from that breeding, and we are not disappointed!
At 7 years old, Callista is still in her prime, and since we already have 3 of her offspring, we have decided that it is time to let her move on and give someone else the opportunity to take advantage of this fabulous girl. We will not re-breed her right away so that a new owner can choose the sire, but she does come with a breeding, and we would highly recommend a re-breed to Rosario. This is your chance to own Callista and a baby with a powerhouse of top quality genetics for a VERY reasonable price.
