Description: |
The New England Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (NEAOBA http://www.neaoba.org) is proud to announce the 2009 New England Coastal Classic Alpaca Show (NECC). This year's NECC will be held in the Exhibition Hall at the DCU Center, Worcester, Massachusetts on November 7th and 8th.
Some of the finest alpacas in the region will be competing for prestigious national alpaca-industry awards. Jill MacLeod, Senior Alpaca Judge and Judge Trainer, of Alberta, Canada, and Stephanie Glyptis, of Weirton, West Virginia will preside.
Attendees will have the opportunity to experience these wonderful creatures first hand, speak with their owners, and attend free seminars on a variety of alpaca-industry related topics. Featured speakers include Dr. Steve Purdy, Director of Camelid Studies at UMASS School of Veterinary Medicine; David Stensland, designer, alpaca breeder and founder of the Red Maple Sportswear Company, Kittery Point, Maine; and Dr. Andrew Merriwether, associate professor of Anthropology and of Biology at SUNY Binghamton and co-owner of Nyala Farm Alpacas. Additionally, there will be a vendors' showcase where a variety of beautiful and luxurious alpaca garments -- from socks and mittens to plush toys and warm coats -- can be purchased.
Lennie Foss, of the NEAOBA Board of directors states, "We're very happy to be at the DCU Center this year. With its central New England location, we hope to bring in families, 4-H clubs, seniors and others who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience these wonderful animals."
"There are no finer quality alpacas than right here in New England. With its family farm tradition, ideal climate and outstanding alpaca bloodlines, New England is the perfect place to raise alpacas." says Jack Dibb of Sallie's Fen Alpacas in Barrington, NH.
