Most of us have various other pursuits and as many of you know, mine has been exotic animals. Within the Feline Conservation Federation I've found a community of professionals who love animals as I do and are fighting to keep harmful legislation from coming to pass so that we may continue to have captive, privately owned populations of exotic animals. I have to opportunity to join my colleagues and in my desire to spend more time walking "on the wild side" so to speak, I've decided to cut down my numbers of alpacas. In October of 1998 I had the distinct honor of being the farm to bring the first 15 Suri alpacas to Florida’s soil. It is now 2008, and number close to 30 select and elite Suri alpacas. We’ve had many great experiences over the years, in our learning process of raising Suri alpacas in the south. I’ve learned that our rare Suri alpacas do indeed thrive in our humid climate. While my breeding program has always been about color,I am now focusing more toward what I affectionately call “party-colored” alpacas. Buying and breeding choices are yielding spectacular results.
