Jody & Judy Grack   ~   7851 240th St E, Lakeville, MN 55044   ~   952-461-4225

AlpacaNation:  How long have you been in the alpaca business?

Crazy Acres:  We purchased our first animals in 2007.

AlpacaNation:  How did you become interested in alpacas?

Crazy Acres:  Jody was on vacation in 2006 and visited an Alpaca farm out in Maine.

AlpacaNation:  How did you decide on your farm name? Is there a special meaning behind the name?

Crazy Acres:  Life is best when it is "Crazy" and our life is crazy when you add a handfull of bassets and a couple of barn cats to the number of alpaca that live on the farm.

AlpacaNation:  What is your greatest achievement or favorite memory since you started raising alpacas?

Crazy Acres:  Moving the animals in to their new barn. It was wonderful!

AlpacaNation:  What advice would you give to those just getting started in the industry?

Crazy Acres:  Do your research, make a business plan and a budget and then double it.

AlpacaNation:  What unique challenges do you face as a small, mid-size, or larger breeder?

Crazy Acres:  Name recognition, no one knows who we are and good old experience, but we are getting more of that every day!

AlpacaNation:  Any embarrassing moments you would like to share?

Crazy Acres:  I actually thought drying Alpaca Pooh in my basement was a good idea, only at Crazy Acres.

AlpacaNation:  What steps did you take to prepare for raising an alpaca herd?

Crazy Acres:  I researched alpacas and visted several farms. I made purchases from farms that had woudl be willing to not only sell me the alpaca but who could also be my mentor. There is a lot if things even research can't prepare you for and it is wonderful to know that help is only a phone call away.

AlpacaNation:  Do you have a favorite Alpaca? Why is it your favorite?

Crazy Acres:  Each animal has it's own personality and I do have several favorites.

Noelle - She is so food motivated, if you feed her once by hand she remembers you and always checks you out for a treat the next time you vist.

Misty Gray - She has the most beautiful big black eyes, they just mesmorize you!

Vuitton- Have you looked her her? I just want to squeeze her!
