Anyone know when the results for this will be posted? Website says 10/10/09, but they aren't up yet.
My husband sent in a handspun skein (his first competition) and we are dying to know if he placed!

I think they moved the date back to the end of the month when they extended the deadline. It says somewhere on the website that the results will be posted by the 31st. I'm like you, I am anxious to see the results. I have several entries. Best of luck to your husband (and so cool that he is spinning!).

Thanks for the info, Melanie. It's like being a little kid at Christmas time...how many more days????
We spent the weekend with our vendor booth at a local restored canal town's Apple Butter Stir festival. Right next to us was the local spinning guild doing spinning demos all weekend. My husband brought his wheel and spun with them. It was amazing how many men stopped to watch and ask questions. I think his presence made it a little more comfortable for them to show an interest. He did say that most of the men asked 'how does that work' questions while the women were more interested in the fiber. Several men expressed an interest in learning to spin. Hopefully we planted the seed for some future alpaca customers!

Well, so much for the results getting posted by the end of October. I really want to get these results. Some of my entries are going to AlpacaFest next weekend, and I was hoping to post any good results.

My husband had me check three times yesterday!
He was commenting that it looks like he'll find out his Alpacafest results before he gets the results from the Fiber Fiesta.
We are trying to cut them some slack since this is their first attempt at this show, but the wait is killing my husband!
For anyone who is coming to Alpacafest, they are planning on setting up an area where you can bring your fiber project (spinning, knitting, needlefelting, etc.) and sit, knit, talk, and take a break from the hurry & scurry of the show.

Don't know how much down time I will have, if last year is an indication. We are showing 6 boys: BB, DB, MF, LF, W and DSG. I guess I was trying to hit all points on the color wheel. I'll bring the afghan that I've been working on, so if I do have a chance to sit down I can work on it.

Still waiting.... Has anybody emailed Eric to see if he has an idea when the results will be posted? I was going to, but figured he was being inundated with emails asking that very same question....

He sent out an e-mail Nov 5, but maybe not everyone got it. Here is the revised schedule:
2 oz Sample Judging WILL BE COMPLETED by November 18th.
Suri Spin-off judging is NOW COMPLETED (results to be posted next week)
Skein Jugging is COMPLETED (results to be posted next week)
Fiber Arts to be completed by November 10th.
It didn't mention huacaya Spin-Off results, although a second judge was hired for the Spin-Off competition.

My husband talked to Eric at Alpacafest this weekend. Eric stated he hoped to start getting results posted this week.
So my husband ended up getting the Alpacafest results before the Fiber Fiesta results as we thought might happen--he took a blue ribbon!

Argh. I don't know why this is really beginning to irk me so much. I just hope that Eric has learned something from this, and if it is on next year that things run more smoothly.

Probably because it's a month past the original date... I am getting a little annoyed as well, probably because this is the first fleece show I have ever entered and am tired of waiting already!!

Is anyone else having trouble reviewing the results on line? The site shows that some of the results are in, but (at least on my computer) there are no photos and in some cases, it says there are results but they don't show up.
I too am a bit frustrated with this show! |
