Acero Marka's Layla

Medium Brown, 148214, Full Bolivian

Medium Brown and Beige, Layla has been a great dam. We purchased her in '97 and she has given us 8 cria since then, all with excellent conformation as herself. Sundown and Zane are excellent herd-sires, and her daughters, Butterscotch and Lareena are excellent fine fleeced alpacas. She is bred to Levi for a May 2009 cria.

Our former main herd sire - Shandar had a 12 lb. nice white fleece with medium crimp & bundling. Sired 60% females and transmitted his calm personality and heavy fleece.

Butter's ancestry is out of the Jolimont Imports Giotto and Cristiana both from Alianza Huaripino in Peru and her dam is from Acero Marka's breeding programs from Bolivia. Photo shows Ripple as the second alpaca she's behind Sabrina!APRIL SPICE is her cria born on April 1,2009, a beautiful fawn girl. DUTCH is Ripple's white male cria born on May 13, 2010 out of Peruvian Master Musician,a fading fawn that possibly carries recessive Brown. Dutch was over 20 lbs at birth and is SOLD. At 6.5 weeks old, I could fit a cria halter on him! Dutch had a fine white fleece and massive bone.Remember that Butterscotch is a fine girl herself and has maintained that fineness.

Butterscotch Ripple is a proven mother with good bone, nice density, soft fleece at 23 microns in 2008 shearing at five years old. She has a well shaped head, perfect bite. She is a RECESSIVE FAWN OR BROWN genetically and dominant white. So breed her to dark solid males and you WILL have a good chance for a COLORED CRIA like APRIL SPICE or darker.

She has had 3 female crias in a row, Brie Anna Sky, LP Baby Doll(Fawn), and April Spice (Fawn).

She was eating one minute and standing over her newborn cria the next. No signs of a head, feet, anything. Turned my back and there was a wet cria on the ground, kushed. Then it took her two hours to decide to push out the placenta.

This is the kind of mom any novice would love to have in their foundation herd. No trouble, easy birth, plenty of milk, easy rebreeder. And she is easily caught and haltered and leads easily! PLUS she has remained fine as she ages and that is a RARE alpaca trait!
