Enchanted Hill Alpacas
When selecting breeding stock, we kept two points in mind:
(1) Our alpacas must be calm and friendly.
(2) The fiber must be interesting, suitable for spinning, & a delight to work with.

Enchanted Hill Appalucy

Pattern, 31197588, 3/8 Chilean, 5/8 Peruvian

Appalucy is the appaloosa color/pattern that we love, so she is really not for sale at all. Born to two of our favorites, Lucy has the calm personality that both her parents show. She also has their square conformation and terrific fleece. We hope she'll live a long life here on our farm and pass those terrific genes on to several similarly marked offspring, all of which have her calm and sweet disposition.

Update, May 2012: Bred to Bodacious, Appalucy produced a gorgeous, and super friendly, wildly-spotted appaloosa cria. See Apple's photos under open

  Enchanted Hill Jelly Bean
    Pattern, 32316865, 3/8 Chilean, 5/8 Peruvian

For breeders of quality appaloosas or other fancies, Jelly Bean is the one to add to Herdsire Row. Look at the wooly face, short ears and muzzle, the balanced conformation, and the lustrous fiber that goes all the way to the toes.

Also take a look at the pedigree--El Moustachio, Peruvian Platinum, Chiquita, Hannaruh, Rockford, and Pperuvian Felix, not to mention Queen B Bodacious!

Then, check out those spots! Jelly Bean has appaloosa on both sides of the family so he could become that rare appaloosa herdsire that is homozygous for the appy gene, meaning that every last one of his crias will get a copy of that allele. How great would that be?!

Enchanted Hill Barbie

Listed at $1800 by Ed & Joanie Kinser of Bent Mountain, VA

Print Listing | Certificate | Histogram

This is the last female alpaca to be offered from our well-known Enchanted Hill Alpacas. We were so hoping that Barbie would be covered with appaloosa spots like her two appaloosa parents, but none can be found. However, even if there are no spots, we can't discount the good possibility that Barbie has an appaloosa gene that is not being expressed. Needless to say, with or without spots, Barbie's fiber and conformation are typical of the other exceptional alpacas produced in our nationally known herd.

Price: $1800
